Math Wiz Moyer, hailing from Willow Glen High, enters the Lion’s den accepting the challenge of teaching students the joy of solving calculus problems. Ms. Moyer is the latest Calculus/Pre-Calculus teacher at KIPP King.
Words cannot describe how motivated Ms. Moyer is or the pleasure she gets from teaching math. As Ms. Moyer explains, she “loves math, and teaching a higher level of math to these students enables them to see the uses of math.” Her interest has not always been teaching, but she’s very happy where she is right now. Ms. Moyer lives in the moment, holding onto the small joys in life such as hiking, running, and cooking. During her free time, she enjoys playing tennis and her favorite color is pink.
Although it may be Ms. Moyer’s first year at King, she has made herself at home acknowledging that the school’s small size contributes to the welcoming feeling she feels every time she walks onto the KIPP King campus. In fact, students already fondly refer to her as “Mama Moyer.”
As this year slowly reaches its finale, we hope to get to know more of Ms. Moyer.
